How we started

Leisure Hire started in February 1989. Four friends got together with an idea of supplying local caterers with cover at shows and festivals. All having full time jobs, this initially gave a small income over the weekend.

Over the years, Mark the sole director now, gradually bought out all the other partners and developed Leisure Hire into a successful locally focused company which for over thirty years still holds personal service to its clients as its number one priority.

He has resisted the temptation to expand to the degree that customers become just numbers and many customers over the years have become repeat clients as well as friends.

Leisure Hire started with a stable as a store and a flat bed trailer as their means of transport. After five years they expanded and moved into a larger shared warehouse and started running lorries and purpose built box trailers. Since then, their stock levels have increased and they have gradually taken over the whole warehouse to now occupy the entire building.

To this day, Mark still deals with the initial enquiries himself although his son has now come into the fold, hopefully carrying on his father’s legacy.

That brings us right up to today! Leisure Hire has come a long way since 1989, from starting in a very small store to being one of the most widely trusted marquee hire companies in Essex and Suffolk.
